On Friday 21st May, Iain Stewart MP visited the Emerson Valley Co-op to meet the team at the shop as well as the team behind the delivery robots from Starship Technologies.
The store manager, Sat, showed Iain how his team manage an order that comes in. It was a quick process and Iain was impressed at the efficiency of the team to get an order inside a robot and on its way to the customer.
The Head of UK Operations for Starship Technologies, Andy, shared their amazing progress that includes operating a delivery service from Co-ops, Tescos, Budgens and even some Costas across various Mlton Keynes locations.
Iain learned that the delivery robots from this particular store are making over 100 deliveries a week, with many of these customers becoming "regulars".
The delivery robots have been helpful for many residents across Milton Keynes during the lockdowns, allowing individuals who are isolating or shielding to get groceries delivered by a robot.
All the while, these robots have been cutting unnecessary car and van trips which is helping to cut Milton Keynes' carbon footprint.
These delivery robots will help #BounceBackMK as they have meant stores like the Emerson Valley Co-op have needed to take on new staff to meet the demand.
