Milton Keynes is set to receive almost £2 million as part of the Homelessness Prevention Grant for 2021-22.
The extra £47 million across the country will bring the total funding to tackle homelessness and rough sleeping next year to more than £750 million.
Local MP. Iain Stewart. has welcomed the news with MK already benefitting from more than £7.7 million in funding from the Government in 2020.
This also builds on the ongoing ‘Everyone In’ campaign, which is protecting thousands of lives during the pandemic by housing rough sleepers. By September, it had supported over 29,000 vulnerable people, with two-thirds now moved into settled accommodation.
Iain Stewart, the MP for Milton Keynes South, commented:
"This funding from central Government is welcomed in Milton Keynes.
"While the Government has been funding programmes to reduce homelessness for some time and improvements have happened, there is still work to do.
"Alongside the previous funding and the work local charities have been doing, this funding will continue to help those without a permanent roof over their head."
